Visitors from Norway

Our first visitors here in Baku!

Elin and her daughter Malin came to visit. We had some great days and explored most of Baku.

As usual the visits to the mud vulcanos are unavoidable. This trip in specific unforgettable as we almost lost our dog to the relentless mud. Toffee, (her first visit too) was so happy to be liberated from the car,  ran happily towards the vulcanos not knowing what she was going into. She fell into the crater, and fought a brave fight to come up again.....I was of course unaware of her ordeal until she showed up covered in a mud so thick, she could´nt even shake off! She the picture for yourself. At least she was rejuvenated........I mean, women all over the world pay millions to get mud treatments!!!!

Mugam Club Restaurant with the Skebys Feb 2011

We had the pleasure of being invited to the Mugam Club Restaurant, serving local Azeri dishes. It is known as the Caravan Serai - a large inn or hostelry, built around a large court, for accommodating caravans, travellers on them, and their animals at night that passed through the Silk Road to and from China.

Great dinner with music, dance and entertainment. Worth a visit - do remember a big chuck of money!

SHÄHIDLÄR XIYABANI - Martys Alley - Feb. 2011

Eirin and I went on our weekly culture-have-to-see-some-of-Baku-trip to the Martyrs Alley. This park was dedicated in honour of the Baku citizens massacred by the Red Army on January 20th 1990 and later also to the heroes of the Nogorno Karabagh conflict.

Sportingly we walked up the steps from the city and returned cold handed/feet with the funicular (20 kapik) followed by a lovely lunch (and wine) at Chinar Restaurant.

Great viewn of Baku city
